The Impact Of Building In America

In a recent article by the National Association of Home Builders, some very interesting projections were given on the impact that building just 1,000 average single family new homes would have on numerous segments of the economy. From construction to mortgage lending, the building of the 1,000 homes was estimated to generate a whopping 2,975 jobs and $111.0 million in taxes and fees for all levels of government. As one would imagine,  a substantial share of the employment is generated in the construction industry, many other trades would also be affected. Firms that manufacture the materials for these homes, the architect that designs the plan for the homes, companies that transport and retail building materials, real estate agents, and mortgage lenders are among those that would benefit by the jobs created. The NAHB website shares the following graphic to further explain resulting revenues:
