Summer Comes To The TriCities
It's June. Schools are out (sans the unfortunate few summer-schoolers). Pools open, picnics begin AND, music fills the air!
Several popular TriCities venues have kicked off summer activities open to the public and are in full swing for the season. Downtown
Kingsport's Twighlight Alive Concert series kicked off on May 27th, and will continue through the summer until the end of July. The Twilight Alive Summer Concert Series, which includes Bluegrass on Broad, takes place each Thursday and Friday evening, and is FREE and open to the public. Concerts take place on Broad Street at the corner of Market Street. Concert goers are encouraged to bring their lawn chair, but does not allow coolers, or pets. Bluegrass on Broad is a Thursday night series that begins at 7 p.m. each night. Twilight Alive, featuring genres from rock to Americana, also begins at 7 p.m. and is on Friday nights. Also popular in the TriCities are the weekly live events at Sonny's Marina and Cafe. The marina is located in Gray at 109 One Street, and is a great gathering place on the water to enjoy music food and fun. For the aspiring entertainer in the area, there are several venues that offer "Open Mic" nights throughout the TriCities. One of the more popular is 620 State at 620 State Street in Bristol TN. Also in Bristol are the Border Bash outdoor music series, featuring a variety of genres, held each Friday night, and The Full Moon Jam Bluegrass series, held each Tuesday evening at the Country Music Mural on State Street.
