It seems kind of silly to have to ask the question, "is that a bedroom?" when you see what obviously looks like one. Our friend, you might just be surprised that what you see might NOT be a bedroom
Making Your Home Show Ready
If you're home is currently on the market, no doubt your real estate professional did a little coaching with you to advise on things you should probably do to have your home ready to show. Most of the time these are common things, like cutting the grass, keeping the clutter put away, and keep all looking and smelling good. Today we look at 4 more key things you should be prepared to do according to a recent article in The New York Times.
The article noted that making a home show-ready doesn't have to mean doing a complete remodel. The publishing giant asked for a couple of key things the seller should do from several top agents. They had the following to offer:
Be sure each room has 3 points of light. Combine lamps with one overhead light; add a task lamp, a floor lamp and over head lights, whatever will give you the best light from each source.
Shine the floors. Yes, the return of daily dust mopping and more attention to the condition of floors to decide when wax or other shine applications should be utilized. Buyers love "miles of glowing hardwoods".
Tidy up the bathrooms. We've touched on this one before, but it bears repeating, after all, a top national agent submitted this one as a 'must do'. Think about yourself as a buyer, would you want to look at toothbrushes, toothpaste and hairspray on countertops? Would you even see the countertops? Our point exactly.
Deep clean. The key: Make the home sparkle. Wash the windows, inside and out. Vacuum the dust in exhaust fans. Clean exhaust fans in the kitchen, and look for grease. Oh yeah, they're gonna look there!
